The global COVID-19 pandemic is affecting nearly every aspect of life, regardless of industry, geography, or function. In the fashion sphere, we are facing unique challenges as we navigate disruption to our supply chain, our ability to connect great brands with retail partners, and for many, the temporary shuttering of brick and mortar stores. First in China, where many of our key partners and suppliers live, then in Milan, one of the world's most important fashion capitals, and now in New York, where so many fashion houses operate, so many flagships reside, and so many key trade fairs take place.
You likely have seen or heard the latest news around the Jacob Javits Center functioning as a temporary hospital and distribution center as New York’s COVID-19 cases rise rapidly. We are in complete support of the Jacob Javits Center as they work with local authorities to ensure the health and safety of our community during this crisis. It is too early to understand the impact of our events scheduled for July, August, and September of this year, but we are currently planning for a return in the summer and will keep you updated as soon as possible.
It's a time for everyone – and every business – to pivot and give assistance. We are working on ways to help you – our brands and retailers – during this time and will be following up next week with some opportunities to do so. We will continue to be in close contact with the Jacob Javits Center as they build out their plan to support the New York area, and will provide an update as soon as we are able regarding the scheduled dates for our upcoming shows.
We are proud to be part of a community who supports one another, steps up in times of crisis, and works together toward a common goal. The fashion community has always been a tight-knit and resilient one. We know that now – more than ever – we have to unite to face these challenges together, and to support our global community one step at a time.
May NY Women’s has been Canceled
At this time of global uncertainty, the health, well-being and safety of all of our visitors is top priority. As such, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming May 4-5, 2020 NY Women’s event. While we know this is disappointing news, we are hopeful that it addresses some of your deserved concerns.
We want to reassure you that we are moving forward with our September 2020 COTERIE Marketplace, in anticipation that business will soon be
conducted without disruption. Visit the COTERIE website for more information »
